Brandy Says She Nearly Commit Suicide Following Her Fatal Car Crash And Bad Breakup

Page Six picked up on an interview with Brandy this week in which the performing artist talked about her mental health struggles. Following her car crash that left one person dead, Brandy said she felt “super depressed” and contemplated taking her own life.

In addition to reeling from a bad accident, Brandy explained, she had just gone through a breakup which was taking a toll on her mental health. During a conversation with People Magazine, the performing artist explained how she pulled herself out of it.

She claims she asked herself, “so, you’re just going to go out like this?” Rather than commit suicide, Brandy thought of her daughter and realized if she was going to do it for anybody, it would be for her. “this is not the way to leave a mark in her life,” the singer-songwriter remarked.

As it was previously reported, the 41-year-old songstress was involved in a car crash that killed a 38-year-old woman. The dispute was settled outside of court and Brandy was never charged criminally.

According to the songstress, if her daughter wasn’t here, she wouldn’t be alive today, in reference to her now-18-year-old teenager. Brandy says she honestly felt as if she wasn’t going to persevere, but her child gave her strength.

Fans of the R&B singer know she and her former boyfriend, Robert Smith, had their baby in 2002. Brandy says giving birth to her first child changed her way of looking at the world entirely. Unfortunately, the couple split up in the following year.

During a new conversation with reporters from the New York Post, Brandy touched on her new song, “Borderline,” which she claims is a testament to the side effects of a loved one not loving back.

According to the 41-year-old, she loved a man who wasn’t available to her, and it drove her insane.

She went on to say that she wanted to start more conversations about the importance of mental health, as many other artists have proclaimed this year. For instance, Logic opened up about the perils of fame amid his beef with Joe Budden.
